Butte College has welcomed Melody Stockwell as the new director of kinesiology and athletics.
Stockwell brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served in various roles in athletic programs at Oregon State University, Compton College, El Camino College and, more recent, Long Beach City College.
At Long Beach City College, Stockwell supervised all aspects of athletic programs, including game management, facilities, schedules, athletic eligibility, physical examinations, equipment, transportation, insurance, and risk management.
Stockwell also managed the Student-Athlete Success Center and evaluation of NCAA and NAIA transferability of students.
Stockwell holds a master’s in sociology and a master’s in sport and athletic administration; she is currently working on her doctorate in sports leadership. She started her new role on September 7, 2021.
